Michael "Mike" Matei is an executive producer for Cinemassacre Productions. AVGN is not a real person, but a character created and played by James Rolfe. The character, an alter ego of Matei, eventually crossed over into game reviews as well. Like it when the reviews shine a light on a game I never played. I wouldn't mind so much if he just had a separate channel on youtube doing his own thing, but every time I see a new video hoping it's James it's usually Mike.

9 is definitely harder than say, 2 or 3; and 10 is definitely easier than 9. But, that's how you make NES games…you have to give players a challenge or they're going to plow through it in a weekend, at most. One interesting aspect of the video is that Mike commissioned a video game hardware wizard to make him a Game Gear that is capable of video out.

The video quality is about what you'd expect from YouTube, however, this set is far better simply for the fact that you don't have to deal with YouTube's cumbersome interface, ads, and the random pixilation that sometimes occurs during YouTube videos.

2 Rolfe diversified the reviews of platforms and products such as the Atari 2600 , Super NES , Sega Master System and Sega Genesis video game consoles , the Power Glove and U-Force peripherals, films such as The Wizard , and the Nintendo Power magazine.

The Mike Matei AVGN plays the NES game Friday the 13th based on the horror movie. But, just like in the games that the nerd finds himself tirelessly trudging through, you'll come across many reasons to swear like a sailor. I like his movie reviews, but not his video game glitches.

James Rolfe himself appeared as the Nerd in various gaming and internet conventions. Soon, Rolfe released a review of The Karate Kid game which was the first episode where Rolfe's character is introduced as The Angry Nintendo Nerd”. 6. I never really liked Megaman 7 and those earlier MMX games (never played the later ones).

I'm sure someone mentioned this already but I think the reason why Mega Man's suit color changes with a special weapon is that the NES can only output so many colors on the screen at the same time. The AVGN reviews Bugs Bunny's Birthday Blowout (NES). Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie is finally wrapping up. So after that's done its theatrical run, it'll be nice for James and I to be able to focus more on web content again.

Matei sometimes does his own game reviews on the main Cinemassacre YouTube channel His game reviews include such titles as Looney Tunes, Sheep Raider, Dark Souls, Top Ten SNES Gems and many others. Mike: I didn't do too much concerning the movie because my responsibility was to keep the web content going while James worked on the film.

In ThatGuyWithTheGlasses's first anniversary special, the Critic and the Nerd begin to settle their score once and for all, eventually joined by other contributors to the website, in which gamers sided with the Nerd and reviewers sided with the Critic.

It's unfortunate that James has already come back from filming and will now completely overshadow Mike because he's such a dick like that, but those who are truly comedic connoisseurs will continue to acknowledge what lovely contributions that Mike Matte-Finish has made to his YouTube channel in his absence.
